For this project we were asked to create a versatile unit which must be used to create stud, hoop and drop earrings. A heat sensitive material must be held inside; originally I wanted to use resin or maybe ceramic, but we later found out it had to be a semi precious or precious stone/pearl. The recommended weight limit is 7 grams.
I found this project very interesting because it really made everyone think and problem solve! Yes, sometimes the design or idea didn’t work, and yes this was frustrating, but I honestly enjoyed trying to solve the problem. Even if this did mean changing the original design. In a way, it make decision making easier because some of my designs simply didn’t work as a unit, so i’d have to choose something else or adapt ideas.
I decided to keep the theme of this project as “Cambodia” because I already had mood boards and research from my previous project. I knew I would be able to continue drawing ideas from this theme and save myself some time.
