On this design page, I’ve started to make some of my initial drawings more realistic by colouring them in, and making suggestions of metal and a heat sensitive material. I really enjoy doing this because it brings idea’s to life!
I ticked the drawings that had the best aesthetic’s and I believed to be most practical.
After speaking to Jo, I realised not many of my units on this page would work in practice, mainly because they weren’t symmetrical. Additionally, I had suggested use of resin in my work, which would actually defeat the objective of the brief. Resin could simply be injected into areas of a fully formed earring. However, I needed the encasing of the material to only be possible by laser welding.
Jo made it clear that the heat sensitive material should only be a stone or pearl, not wood, ceramic, paper, etc.
I need to move these ideas on and ask; can this unit be symmetrical? Will it look good? what heat sensitive material can be used? How can it be held in place?
